Hi. I was wondering what the best free or cheap option is for making a bootable copy of the hard drive on my new MacBook Pro. SuperDuper! doesn't run and Carbon Copy Cloner doesn't seem to work properly (I can't get the copy to boot). Neither of these have a Universal Binary version yet.

Any suggestions?

BTW, I have a MBP 2.0 and a 160GB FW/USB2 external drive.

For those without an external HDD yet, they could go with a Maxtor or something. Otherwise, no idea. Good luck!

Be very careful until at least 1 of those 2 works! 😀

I'm waiting for SuperDuper Universal to come out. From the authors blog it sounds like they have an internal Universal build that works that they are going through private beta with right now to make sure it works as expected before releasing to the public.

Other than that DVD for the moment?

I suppose you could just copy over you're Applications and Users folders, if not Library and System as well, over to a "Backup-DateOfBackup" folder on your external HDD (i.e. "Backup-March4_2006").
