hey would making a disk image with disk utility of the bootcamp drive work as a back up? could i then just restore the partition when needed? also would this work if the bootcamp partition is formatted as ntfs?
Not hard to backup, any window backup program will do it - Mac backup programs won't.
Used Bootcamp and VMWare Fusion on old computer.
Tried the firewire transfer offered during OS X setup from old to new MB -
Bootcamp drive was a NO GO.
Problem is restoring it. - Apple Tech - said you will have to reinstall bootcamp & windows - before even thinking of using an image, or backup restore software.
Much easier with VMWare Fusion
Used SuperDuper! to backup old MB to external backup drive. Then, from external drive to MBP also with SuperDuper!. At first didn't work. but after fixing permission with OS X Disk Utility, everything worked perfectly.
I have stopped using Bootcamp.
