backing up desktop via firewire connection

sadly...my g4 powerbook does not want to cooporate anymore. so i've hooked it up to my g4 tower (sys 9) to back up its contents. but i need to also back up th desktop of my laptop. and i'm not seeing that folder, or anything similar on the laptop drive.
any suggestions on how i can back them up?
