I currently have an iPhone 4s with iOS 7.1.2 jailbroken. I'm kinda annoyed by the excessive battery consumption and few other things jailbreak is doing to me (like changing the apps that can use cellular data). So I either want to upgrade to iOS 8.1.X (possibly w/ jailbreak) or just go back to unjailbroken iOS 7.

Either way the main thing that's stopping me are two little games... Kingdom Rush and Clumsy Ninja... I didn't want to loose all the progress I've made in those games and start all over...

I've read about AnyTrans and other side software that would allegedly "export" your apps and their save data to computer so you can restore them later... but I've yet too see them work properly, they'll either not backup at all or they'll just backup the simple app and no save data.

Can someone help me here?

Are those online games? Are they connected to Game Center, iCloud, or Facebook? Maybe you can save and transfer your account using one of those mediums

I have used AppBackup for years now to backup my game saves. I have games saved from 2010! Haha. I have only seen 1 game that cannot be backed up and it might be related to the need of the games server. I can post a link to instructions on how to use AppBackup if you want. Just let me know. I backup my notes, contacts, etc with iCloud and my games with AppBackup. This way I always restore as new every time I install iOS.

You can:
- Backup in iTunes (it saves app files with it
- Export a zip with app documents in it and put that back on when done (but, I don't know if this works jailbreak to non-jailbreak)

It would actually be a backup from jailbreak to non jailbreak.

I want to undo the jb in my iphone, it's been one problem after the other

Oh that changes the solution. AppBackup will only work if you jailbreak. If you remain non-jailbroken then AppBackup will do you no good. Sorry I didn't realize your goal. Without a jailbreak, I thibk iCloud/iTunes are your only options. I could be wrong.

You can use software that allows you to access app data on the phone from a computer, such as iExplorer or iFunbox. Most game apps store their save data in their Documents folder. Just copy the files from there and put them back after you have reinstalled the phone.

Trying this with iExplorer, so far it hasn't done a thing, but I only transferred the Documents folder, I'm trying it with all folders now, I'll either crash the app or restore my data.

@BumpyFlatline: thank you for the recommendation anyways. Right now I'm sorta "mad" with jailbreak and I wanna go back to normal. But if I ever decided to jb my iPhone again I'll try to remember this app.

EDIT: iExplorer didn't work at all, here's to hoping it can at least backup my messages (sms) since iCloud doesn't do that.

If your device is not jailbroken, can you still use iFunBox to copy the documents folder back onto the device? I don't think that's possible. Isn't that one of the main reasons to jailbreak? I didn't know iFunBox could copy folders onto a non-jailbroken device. Learn something new everyday!

You are very welcome. I'm pretty sure there is software that can backup messages. I've seen it mentioned on this site. Can't remember the name. You might wanna do some searches to see if you can find it.

I couldn't tell... some backups were made but I couldn't unjailbreak my iPhone. Doing it through iTunes forces me to update to iOS 8 and I just don't want that...

I have bad news for you then. If you want to remove the jailbreak, you have to restore iOS. And your only option is to install 8.1 or 8.1.1. You cannot install any other firmware. Sorry bro.

It works without jailbreaking. Software like iExplorer and iFunbox use the same APIs as iTunes to access the apps' directories on the phone over USB (these are normally used for things like iTunes file sharing). The only requirement is that you need to have iTunes installed and paired with the device.

I don't have either of these games, but I used this method successfully with some others. Make sure you run the app at least once on the new phone before restoring the files from the old one. Usually it should be enough to restore the Documents folder. If that doesn't work, try copying the Library folder as well.

and Clumsy Ninja... ?

the game score of Clumsy Ninja is tied to your apple id / gamecenter id. when you install the game again it will ask if you want to use the current stat (zero) or the game score from the cloud and it will restore it

Which Kingdom Rush game is it? If it's the new Orogins game, there's an option to save your game saves to iCloud. If it's an earlier version, I don't think that option existed.

I tried backing up all 3 Kingdom Rush games with iTools and restored them on a fresh install of 8.1.1. Unfortunately it did not work. It installed the games just fine. It did not include my game saves though. :(

It was the first one. I'm ok with loosing it though.
Nice to see a KR fan here. I'm loving Origins btw.

Yea, having to re-earn all your progress for KR is not necessarily a bad thing! ;)

Origins is awesome. I love building 2 artillery stands near the exit and unleashing 4 bears haha

Shhh... don't spoil me. I'm savouring the game (like an apple pie, hmmmm... pie)...

I'm still at the level with the ewoks. Did you notice the fedex box and the yellow submarine in Waterfall Trails.

Hahaha

Of course a week after I update to 8.1.1 and lose all 3 of my kingdom rush game progresses, all 3 kingdom rush games get updated to support iCloud!

Oh well, looks like I gotta play them again! Haha

it's funny how you say it like it's a bad thing XD :D
PS: how are you handling 8.1.1? I had a friend who updated and he said everything was ok, but I shouldn't update mine because it will get slow when switching apps like facebook and messenger.

My iphone is handling 8.1.1 and is perfectly fine. However, I have an iphone 6 and I dont use Facebook or messenger so that might be why I have no problems.

What phone do you have?
