Hey Guys,

I currently have an iPhone 8 Plus with iOS 14.5 (public beta) installed. I picked up a new iPhone XR with the current 'main' release of iOS 14.4 and was wondering what's the easiest way to restore my backup from my old iPhone 8 Plus to my new iPhone XR? I believe both phones needs to be on the same iOS version, so do I need to somehow update the iPhone XR to iOS 14.5 Public Beta?

Just wanting to make sure I correctly setup my new iPhone. Any help anyone could offer would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Asif

An iPhone on an earlier version of iOS can restore from a backup made on a later version of iOS if the restored device can run that version.
But not the other way around.

But if you're still not convinced, update the new phone to the same iOS as the backup version then restore it again from the backup.

I'll give it a try, sounds like the usual backup / restore procedure should just work fine.

Backup = iOS 14.5 (iPhone 8 Plus)
Restore = iOS 14.4 (iPhone XR)

Thanks!
