I hope this is the right subforum. My wife and I have a lot of photos on our iPhone thanks to a new baby. I was wondering if there is a way and set up to wirelessly back-up our photos from our iPhone to an external hard drive that is connected to a Mac? Like airdropping it or an app or another way?

Just to get a copy of the photo I’d use either google photos or Dropbox. I personally use GPhotos but I’m not worried too much on quality of photos. I can’t remember if google reduce the image quality on the free photo tier.

To add to the previous posts: in order to import photos via the cable you don’t need iPhoto. On a Mac this was replaced by the photos app a while ago, but image capture app in OS X would also import them to a folder of choice.

On a PC, the same workflow to import images from a digital camera should also work on an iPhone too.

They do.
