backing up MobileMe mail before moving to icloud

Hi folks,

What's the best way to back up my MobileMe mail before I move to iCloud? Right now I have just shy of 16000 messages in my MM inbox and trying to copy them into a local mailbox results in Mail trying to use 5GB of memory and the system almost hanging.

Any suggestions would be magic 😉
