Backlight keyboard off using battery & on using AC

Hi, so I got my MBP last week. It's the 15" base unibody model. Is there any way to have the computer setup to automatically turn on the backlight keyboard using ac power? Then do the opposite using the battery?

Backlights being LED, isn't the energy usage negligible for the keyboards?

If I were you i'd go into System Preferences>Keyboard and check "illuminate keyboard in low light conditions"
