Hi guys had my XR just less than 2 weeks and noticed at certain times on white backgrounds that the backlight uniformity is not 100% near the notch (top left), at certain brightness levels it’s not noticeable and is only noticeable on white backgrounds. It’s almost like a little shadow on the bend of the notch.

I have until saturday to swap if it needs be but just wondering if anyone else has noticed a similar thing with the XR screen? I don’t want to swap it for something with worse issues!

many thanks

Is that in Safari? You'll see that the white bar is sort of translucent.

But anyway in my first days with my XR I sort of had the feeling it was uneven (in the two top corners), but then I forgot about it.

Go to the store and try a few of them out for the same issue - if they're clear, there's a problem with your unit. Return/replace and you should be good to go

You’re never gonna get a display with 100% perfect uniformity. By all means, swap it if unhappy but be aware you may get a display that is better, worse or a problem in a different part of the screen.

I know that this is an old thread but my XR also has the same issue. The top right of the notch area has this subtle shadowing. It’s obvious when you’re not looking at it say you are checking you network signal or battery icon. I do think that this is a limitation of the technology and would be hard to find a “perfect” screen. IPS panels are known to have this issue. It’s even harder now that Apple decided to have curve screen edges on the XR.

i also have the same issue but it’s directly below the notch, the size of a dime.. easy to see when brightness is turned down lowest, laying in bed in my dark room. scrolling text is the easiest way to spot the exact area as the text gets ever so slightly dimmer as it passes over the area.

apple support said they would replace the screen but i’ve decided to deal with it being subpar.
