I've been on the hunt for a keyboard for my Mac and looking across the Apple peripherals online, I was surprised to see none of the keyboards were backlit.

The wireless keyboard I could understand but I would have loved to see a backlit option, I can't see it requiring a heavy draw from the USB port. It's strange having the F5 and F6 keys sitting blank on the keyboards.

It's a small touch but it would've been great to have the option in less desirable working environments. I appreciate these peripherals are primarily designed for indoor use within a desktop set-up and a backlight is less necessary than on a portable laptop but there are still scenarios where I wouldn't mind having a little bit of illumination below the keys.

Anyone else who'd like to see this little update in a future keyboard?

I'd love an apple keyboard that was backlit for use with my iMac, but for the time being, I've settled on using Logitech Illuminated Keyboard K740.

I'm using the Logitech K811 wireless keyboard on my Mac. It is also backlit. I like it a lot. And I like the key feel better than the Apple keyboard. The K811 can seamlessly pair with 2 devices. So you could pair it with your Mac and an iPad for instance.

Another vote for the Logitech K811. This product proves that backlighting is very achievable, even in a wireless keyboard. The backlight works great and has user-selectable levels. I get about TWO MONTHS of usage between charges even with several hours of use daily.

Apple has no excuse to not provide backlighting on at least one of their future keyboard offerings.

The Logitech K811 is more Apple-like than Apple's own keyboard. It has black keys on silver metal which matches the iMac far better than Apple's white keys! Even the MacBooks have black keys. What is it with the white for the desktops?
