I was about to buy a new desk lamp because my hands cast shadows across my keyboard (I'm no touch-typist, unfortunately), when I realized that a backlit keyboard would do just as well -- provided that I don't end up spending significantly more. But there doesn't seem to be a wide range of options out there.

Can anyone here recommend a backlit Mac keyboard for less than, say $60? I'd actually prefer the ordinary wired kind to a Bluetooth wireless model, but beggars can't be choosers.... The closest I've come so far is the Logitech K740, but it's a wee bit over my budget: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/illuminated-keyboard-k740?crid=27

It is a little over your price target, but the Logitech K811 is awesome. It is bluetooth. You can easily pair it with up to 3 computers/devices. Backlighting has selectable intensity and automatically comes on when it senses your fingers approaching the keys. Key action is as good or better than any Apple keyboard I have tried. About 6 weeks battery life between USB recharges. Highly recommended.

I am also looking for a desktop keyboard that is backlit. Right now I am using a gaming keyboard that has blue light coming through each individual key. It does really work well in the dark because the blue is too dark, and it doesnt really work well in the light because the transparency of the letters and numbers on the keys make them really hard to see. I was looking for one that has the same key layout as well. I always trying to hit Alt when I am trying to hit the command key and I have to remind myself to hit the Windows key instead. Since I have a MBP this gets confusing going back and forth. I would love to have a USB backlit keyboard with the Mac key layout.
