I've done a search on here and google but can't find an answer. I have a MBP and the backslash button above the right shift button doesn't work. The pipe key does | but the mac just beeps when I press the backslash. I made another acccount on my mac and the backslash works fine on there, so can anyone help me work out whats gone wrong? thank you.

Do you have the same keyboard layout in both accounts?

Sorry, had the wrong keyboard layout, and the \ was working with Shift + Option + 7 (german layout), but now that it is British, my backslash works with just the key you wrote.
