Backup a MacBook

good day to all.
I have a Mackbook Air running the latest Mojave’s os.
Looking to make a backup of the os been thinking about making a bootable usb pendrive.
Been looking on line for the method of achieving this challenge.First question is if I download the latest os from the App Store even though I have the latest installed,will the one from the App Store go to the download folder?
If that’s correct I plan on using the Diskmaker software to make e bootable usb pendrive.
Or would it be possible to get that latest Mojave’s os from another source.

David, you can use Diskmaker X to make a bootable USB thumb drive. I made mine using Diskmaker X.

You have to have a 16GB thumb drive as a minimum to do this and Mojave downloaded into your applications folder.
