I have a Synology +716 NAS box with 2 x 4TB drives in a Raid 1 format. Plugged into a USB 3 port of the NAS I have a WD 4TB My Book drive which backs up the NAS in a Synology Backup Format. I'm looking for recommendations for an application so that I can backup the NAS in a format readable by a Mac. I have another WD 4TB plugged into the other USB 3 port on the NAS all ready to go. Any suggestion for a backup app?

Thanks

Disk Utility has a Restore feature that can be used to make backups, and the app itself is native. If you want something more automated there's SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner, but I've found sometimes they miss tiny things once in a while.

You might consider Time Machine, standard and free, can be configured to take just that disk.
;JOOP!

If you have a NAS, just go with Apple's delivered Time Machine application, its very good for what it does.

Unless I'm missing something I don't think Time Machine is going to work for me. I use Time Machine to Backup my Macbook Pro to an Airport Time Capsule.

I want to backup a remote NAS drive to another drive. Can Time Machine do that?

Time Machine can only backup the local disk, it cannot backup a remote disk through the network.
