I got a new MAC laptop and have had my 4S--everything is backed up to Icloud on my phone, Apps/notes/contacts/pictures ect...

Now I have NOT backed up my phone on the MAC yet nor do I really want too.

Here is what I want to do--restore my 4S because its been flaky a little from Itunes and set up as New phone, then restore backup from Icloud!! Has anyone done that exact thing--seems like I should get everything back on my phone dont you think?

When you reset/setup a new IOS5 iPhone, one of the very first screens asks you if you want to restore from iCloud, Backup, or set up as a new phone. Select restore from iCloud.

EDIT: I may have misread your post. It seems as if you want to set up as new and THEN restore. I am not sure of that. A restore is an all or nothing deal AFAIK. I've restored my iPhone from iCloud twice without incident, both after resetting it. Not while live.
