Hi,

I'm new to the forum and to owning a new Mac. (had one over 10 years ago).

Purchased 13" MBP from refurbished store and love it to bits!

Planning to do some photo editing and other general use with it.

Problem is I want to make sure I have everything backed up.

Originally with Windows I had all photo's on a NAS drive with other files. That was duplicated to another NAS and then to a Windows Desktop PC that I used to backup to the online service Mozy. As you can see want to make sure I loose nothing.

Want to move the photos to the Mac to speed up access and editing but continue to have many copies at home but also online.

Should I just copy them to the mac and then sync to the NAS drive regularly for backup or is there another good approach I should do?

Need to consider we have another windows laptop that had files and itunes etc on that also need to be backed up.

would consider changing the whole setup for best method.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I would partition the NAS and allocate one partition as a time machine backup. This partition would need to be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) to work with TM.
