I'm looking to expand my computer storage, without spending too much on hard drives. For £100 I can get 2x 500GB SATA Drives.

However, I don't particularly want to spend another £100 on another 2x500GB for backup purposes. Is there any way, using some sort of redundancy, or other method, I can backup or 'keep safe' 1TB of data.

Any help is appreciated.

Is this for a Mac Pro/Power Mac? I am assuming it is, so I am moving it to that forum.

I think that with only two disks the best you can do in regards to having fully backed up solution is RAID 1 which means you will only have 500GB worth of space.

Would it be better to make it up of 250GB disks instead?
