Some quick questions, my iMac has become incredibly slow over the years and I was planning on performing a clean install on the machine. I have a time machine backup which I would transfer my files back onto my Mac from. I have a few questions about the process:

1. Will this give a noticeable speed boost to my iMac?

2. Will Time Machine keep a copy of my emails from Entourage (part of Office 06)

3. Will licensed software like pages, microsoft word, etc. have to be reinstalled with proper license codes?

Hope some people can provide answers to this. Thanks!

1. What are you Mac's specs (processor, memory, hard drive capacity, free hard drive space) and what tasks are slow?

2. Office 06 doesn't exist AFAIK. The actual versions are X, 2004, 2008 and 2011. But yes, email will be backed up if you haven't excluded anything in the Time Machine preference pane. I suggest doing your last backup with all Microsoft Office applications closed to minimize the risk of data corruption.

3. Applications shouldn't have to be reinstalled.
