So a few weeks ago(or months) I borrowed the Season 2 Series of Lost from a friend. Totally forgot about it until I realized the other week that I still had it. I went to get everything to give it back, but I lost one of the disks. I had a gift card to Barnes and Nobles, so I figured I'd just buy another set since I really wanted it anyways. I'm going to give the DVDs back to the girl in a day or two, but I really want to just backup the disk and keep a burned copy of it for myself. This seems legit since I lost the other one, and have it purchased. I just don't know how to do it. I'm sure it's a real easy thing to do and I'm an idiot, but can someone help me out? All the programs I'm using suck. All I want to do is make a backup then burn the backup on to a DL DVD.

There are many many ways to do this, but I will give you what I believe is the easiest one (you will need to buy a piece of software).

1- Download Mac The Ripper (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14414)
2- Open Mac the Ripper, select your DVD and rip to your hard drive
3- Buy Popcorn (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16695)
4- Use Popcorn to burn the ripped DVD files to a standard DVD

Once you do this, you will most likely use it again in the future, so the Popcorn price will pay for itself further down the road. Good luck!

if you want some more options, take a look at all of the info they have to offer at

it has been extremely helpful for me in backing up disks on cheap dvds (from crapusa or the like) so that I can use them without fear of damage with my portable dvd player
