While trying to copy library.photoslibrary to my NAS it starts and stops and eventually gives me error -38. I just want to make a manual backup separate of my TM for my photos on my raid 1 array.

Format is exfat and I move files 3x as large to and from the NAS daily from the same machine. It seems like OS X is stopping this transfer.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks guys!

Can you try with rsync in the terminal?

    Code:
    rsync -a /path/to/source /path/to/destination/

Hmm. When trying that photos opened telling me there were inconsistencies with the library and needed to be repaired. Apparently it doesn't like being messed with.

I copy my photos to my NAS using Carbon Copy Cloner. It's not a free solution, but it works every time.
