I have been running OS X 10.5 straight since its release and it is starting to drag a little bit. I was wanting to do a clean restore using Time Machine because I have a lot of music on my hard drive.

Is there a way to restore using time machine without restoring all of the junk files that are slowing down the system?

Go to system prefrences> time machine and click options. There you can add items you don't want backed up. Otherwise, just plug in the disk weekly, and manually drag your music folder to the HDD's icon.
