Backup SD cards via tablet to iPhone ?

This is a bit convoluted, but does anyone think the following would/could work? Anyone with iPhone and iPad could try it?

Put SD card from camera into SD Adapter
Use airdrop to transfer photos from the SD card to an iPhone. Best case directly from the "card view", but otherwise by transferring them to iPad first.

(reason for the seemingly pointless intermediate step of an iPad is that (and this sucks big time 😡) you cannot connect the adapter to an iPhone directly.

if you were shooting Canon, you could just use the EOS app and do it from the camera paired by wifi to your phone.

Nice. Can you do that with a lumix I wonder? Will check it out.not my current model but maybe a trade in is possible ....
