This is probably one of the main things I miss from Windows - Acronis True Image.

I'm looking for a Mac Alternative to this - something that has the same features - i.e. Ability to backup selected file folders only, backup to a single archived/compressed file (i don't want to mirror my entire system drive to another drive), allow for incremental backups, and allow for scheduling of said backups.

I've tried a few programs - Carbon Copy Cloner, Super Duper, but none of them have all the features I want.

My problem with CCC - no incremental backup, and it only allows you to select the entire Users folder, but no folders lower than that. I don't need to back up my entire users folder, only a few folders under that.

Is there any hope for a decent backup program?

Chronosync will do what you want. I suggest creating a sparse disk image and using that as the destination for your backup, which will meet your single file criteria. I've been using it for 3 years and it's highly recommended. I use SuperDuper for image backups, but for file and folder backups/syncs Chronosync is the best option IMO.
