Hi,

I am now backing up to a NAS now - however when I check my disk it tells me I've got 15Gb of backups on my hard drive.

1. What is this
2. Can I get rid of it
3. If yes - how

Any guidance would be great

Thanks

Are you referring to the purple area here?

That is space used by Time Machines local backups and you can just ignore it. OS X manages the space and will shrink it when your disk reaches 80% full. If you want, you can turn Time Machine off then back on and it will zero that space.
