I just remembered I had a bad dream about the upcoming new iMacs. I am waiting for the new design before I make my purchase. Anyways, I had a dream that the new design of the iMacs were going to look ugly, much like the previous generation. Just thought I'd share.

    "No escape from Reality..."
I had a dream once that Steve Jobs wanted to retire and sold Apple to Dell. Michael got rid of all the Apple hardware and put OS X on his computers as an built to order option. He replaced all the Apple Stores will Dell Stores.

I guess you would call that a "nightmare"....

The most I have ever dream't about my iMac was when I first ordered it.
After making the order, for the 2 weeks I had to wait, I had a dream almost every night about receiving it...I guess I just couldn't wait! lol

    Still here.
If you are referring to the iMac G4's, I have to disagree. They are certainly not ugly by any stretch of the imagination. To be honest, I think they are more attractive looking than the G5/Intel-style iMacs, but obviously not as practical.

I have to agree, I upgraded from a G4 iMac to a C2D iMac and the screen is the one thing I miss.

I mean, its pretty ugly in today's standards. Back then it was pretty cool but if next gen looked like that it'll be a step back, literally. Ahh... bad dream.

    nowhere fast
The G4 imacs were definitely a 'different' design, and a great followup to the original imac. I like the G4 design about equally well as the G5/intels, but the G4 was definitely less...pragmatic.

I've noticed however that you tend to see G4 imacs used in television and movies quite often. I think i've only seen the G5/intel design in reality television where they're actually being used, whereas the G4 is still used in new sitcoms etc. You also tend to see tons of ibooks and a few macbooks used in commercials, tv and movies. I guess the simple white design is a favorite of directors, usually with a white circle over the :apple: .

I might be wrong on this, but I think I first saw the G4 imacs on the drew carey show. I know he was a mac fan and used g3 imacs on the office set, but i have some recollection of seeing the G4s and going to look up what they were. I wanted one at that point, but never got the $ together until the first intels were out.

I suppose the fact that G4 imacs sell for at least as much as early G5 models points to the fact that their design is quite popular. The adjustable monitor height was great when I used them in class at grad school, you could lower them and tilt them back to see the prof. as well as your screen.
