What's handshaking? I understand error correction, but...

irmongoose

Handshaking is an old term used to explain two pieces of hardware initiating a transfer protocol and holding the connection by constantly sending small amounts of data back and forth updating there current status.

yeah, i think its better for these types people who fall in the category of having higher ages than IQs to stick with windows, rather than dirty the mac community with their stupidity.

Wow, Billy. You don't sound like a Nazi when you say that. How dare we consider a fellow human to be on the same level as ourselves, I mean, he or she may have different ideas than me, and that must mean they're wrong! Besades, the may "dirty" my "community" with their ideas that may be caused by a lack of money, or even knowledge!

In fact, all of you saying that he doesn't deserve to have an iPod, or that he is an idiot, ought to stand back and take a breath. Maybe learn to accept other people situations and ideas.

Its not like a firewire card is mega expensive,
or hard to install for that matter. Yes, just
ignore thse people who don't know what they
are saying... ;)

Maybe it's just me, but before I drop $300+ on a digital "toy" I do some research at the company's website. Not only does Apple give them warnings about Firewire being a requirement, but now the Apple Store Online is selling PC Firewire cards. They have models for both desktop, and laptop(PCMCIA). Maybe it was an impulse buy. If so, I want this guy buying me presents, because he's loaded!

I built my own computer, and when i was shopping for my pc parts every motherboard i looked at from all kinds of companys had firewire, they like 4 of them. this guy must be running an old pc and he just wanted to have this new great product work on his old crappy machine. it just isnt gonna happen. haha, wait till he has to buy a video camera, he will be in a big world of s*** then. oh by the way, im not at my parents business right now but last time i checked the box says you must have a firewire port or card or something like that installed. this guy is just mad because he doesnt know everything and he hopes everything will work perfectly.

Okay, maybe you have to READ the other posts carefully before making any comments.. clearly I was calling him an idiot not because he thought the iPod was bad... in fact he thought it was really good, except for the fact that it didn't have USB, and Apple didn't tell him that it says you need a firewire port. Also, he says that no Wintel machine he has seen has firewire ports. THESE are the points I was attacking. If he had made a good arguement, I would accept it, but this is just plain IDIOCY.

Also, he called Apple 'Mac'.. which is a mistake I have seen many idiots make... :D

The iPod being good is your opinion. I did read the posts, and so far all of you seem to be taking a "holier-than-thou" attitude. Like I said, sit back and look at you're saying. Your all being *******s.

The guy is an idiot. he's upset with Apple because HE did not read the packaging correctly. Also he didn't educate himself very well before making the purchase so he didn't even know what firewire was after he got it. You can not make assumptions about technology as this guy did or you ARE and idiot.
