bad Power supply?

One of our macs is an older G4 dual 500, I had it for 7-8 years.
Lately it's doing weird things. It restarts on it's own, sometimes multiple times in a row. I have reset the PRAM and repair permissions but still does it.
Another weird thing is that the clock doesn't show up on the menu bar anymore. (yes, it's set up to do that)
My next step is to reset the PMU on the logic board. Someone told me I may have a bad power supply, should I also replace the battery? .

    Anyone had a similar experience?

    Thanks for the help .
(this is my wife's computer, no way shes going to start using mine!)

I bet that it's the logic board. You can pick one of these up for around $80 on eBay, just do that instead of get a new board.
