2009 15" unibody 2.5ghz A1286 , wanted to upgrade the ram (2x2gb pc3-8500) so i ordered a 2x4gb kit from corsair. I got a pair of pc3-10600, which runs at 1333mhz. I know my mac can only run ram at 1066, but i tried it anyway, since I've heard it should still run at the slower speed. I got the dreaded 3 beeps on boot. tried reseating, same result. Is the new ram bad, or just unable to function at all in my mac (despite what I've heard about underclocking).
