Well it wasn't so much bad service with the apple assisstants. More with security. Can someone honestly answer this question for me, are the security elegible to kick you out of the store if you have been on one of the macs for over 5 minutes. Cos thats what the security guard at the bullring told me after i questioned him to why he asked for me to leave the store.
If that is an honest rule then it really, REALLY sucks. I was waiting for an assistant to help me with some questions as i am hoping to buy a macbook pro next month.

Ok, i feel much better now after a bit of a rant :)

Yes, they can ask you to leave the store.

Was it the Apple Store's staff or centre's guards?
The guards in Birmingham shopping centres are all jumped up jerks.
    I'm banned from the Pavillions.

Oh my god. that is so stupid. what annoys me even more was that there was a guy in the corner actually making a song from scratch on one of the mac pros in logic for ages, and yet they didn't care about him!
It was one of the store guards by the way

How were you dressed? How was the other guy dressed?

I've found that in some shops this can make a huge difference in how you are treated, and given Apple's reputation for being high dollar items it could come into play here. Try walking into a nice jewelry store in shorts and a t-shirt and watch the employees ignore you, come back with the same employees and the same number of other customers wearing business casual attire and watch them practically leap over the counter to help you. This has been improving in recent years but it can still come into play. If the other guy was dressed more formally his "playing" might have been seen as leading to a more likely sale where you may have given the impression of someone just hopping on to check email while you were at the store...

    Just one possible theory....

I am a typical art student, and therefore could have been mistaken for a guy off of a mac advert :D. You Know, the usual, converse allstars, jeans, white t-shirt and a trendy jacket.
The other guy on the other hand could have been mistaken for belonging in a gangster rap video. Plenty of bling and burberry! The music he was making involved a lot of bass and bleeps to boost my point.

I see where you're coming from on the whole dress sense thing, but by the sounds of it, i think the security guard was just grumpy and wanted to go home

Like I said, just a theory...

I always go in with a black turtle neck and blue jeans. When they try to kick me out I shout, "Do you know who I am, I'm Steve Jobs, you can't kick me out I own this place!" I usually end up getting a nice night at the nearest psychiatric ward and a good hospital breakfast, sometimes it's more than one night with some fun pharmaceuticals.

    Apparently there were complaints.

Then is was because we were taking up too much room in the 3/4 empty food court.

Then it was because photography was banned...
