I got one for free from AT&T about 2 weeks ago. My phone loses the MicroCell connection about once every 24 hours and will not reconnect without restarting the phone or the MicroCell. It is very glitchy if you have 1 or 2 bars of regular signal, as it is always trying to switch you to other towers. I think it works best where there is absolutely no existing AT&T tower to compete with.

I just got off the phone with AT&T after reading this post and they are sending me one for free (including tax and shipping)!

I only get around one or two bars in my home, so I'm looking forward to this thing.

The representatives were some of the most polite and helpful people I have ever dealt with!

There you go! NICE!! :D

My issues also, well except for the losing the MC signal... didn't have it hooked up long enough for that to happen.

I'll let you know how mine works out, so far no problems running it at its full capacity of 4 devices.

So I've had AT&T for about 10 years now and have always lived in the same house which I've never been able to get above 2 bars. I will sometimes maybe peak at 3 bars but very rare. So I finally decided to give AT&T a call and see what they could do. They said they would give me a MicroCell for free and it should greatly help with the service, so they credited my account for $200 and I went to AT&T the next day to pick it up.
Just finished setting it up, very simple plug into the wall and plug the ethernet cable into the microcell and then into your current modem and your done! Wait about 20 mins and its activated. No monthly fee or anything. I now get full 5 bars around my entire house! No dropped calls or anything. Using it with my iPhone 5, it supports up to 4 devices at a time. So if you dont get great service I highly recommend it!

And cancer

AT&T has provided me with terrific service 12 years straight. That's a great track record.

I'm assuming folks need their PHONES, which don't run on wifi.

As scaredpoet said, the purpose of a microcell is for signal for the phone, not to use data. Most likely he people who have the high speed net also have a wifi router, which people would most likely connect to at home... Making it a moot point that the microcells don't broadcast faster LTE like speeds.

I used a different method.

When I couldnt get a good signal at home I decided to move house. We lost about £50,000 on the house sale and my child had to change school, which upset him and caused him to fail all his exams. My wife left me, and due to the stress of it all I lost my job. Now my family have disowned me.

But on a more positive note, I now get 3 bars instead of 2 :)

I understand the purpose of a microcell. I have one.
I was referring to this and other articles. They don't WORK with LTE.

AT&T Told me when we get LTE next month I'd need to turn it off for the microcell to work properly.

It's all depending on your internet connection. If you have high latency on your internet connection, you're going to get lengthy delays on your voice calls because it's taking longer for the packets to get to AT&T. This is also a problem if your upstream bandwidth is slow. You're most likely to have this problem on DSL, because they offer kinda-fast download speeds, but really slow upload. A microcell needs fast download AND upload to work well.

Makes sense, thanks for the clarification. The plan i'm on does have pretty slow upload speeds.
