As mentioned previously, the best time to buy a new model phone is approximately 5 months or later after it has been released (Feb 1 onwards). Launch day phones come with a brand new 'beta' version of the newest iOS release that's ALLways very buggy. You get a brand new fancy phone with crappy software on it.
If you wait for five months or so after release before buying a new phone, several (yet not all) of the most glaring bugs will be fixed in updates to the OS.
Launch day iPhones suck big time.
Bullsh*t

I say the 11 has the upper-hand only because the battery life of the 11 is top of the line. The 12 has been criticized for its step backwards in battery life. The difference may not be as big as it seems from internet noise and on paper.

But really, I agree. Either one will serve you well.

12 also has an OLED screen vs 11’s LCD, if that is important. For me, however, both screens are excellent and I cannot really see any obvious advantage of OLED.

Everyone needs to get out of this mindset of “get the latest (12) because Apple will support it the longest”

I’m on a 6s and Apple is still supporting it 6 years later. Lol
I just updated to 14.4.2 and works fine. How many of you are going to keep your 12 for 6 years? Lol My guess, not many.

I think this is part of the beautiful thing of iPhone, you pick the one you want and stick with it for a few years and you’ll be good.

I pick up my 11 Pro Max and look at what’s available and realise I don’t need anything, in fact the Xs Max I had was great before it was stolen, I would have still been using it this year.

Glad you are still enjoying your 6s!

If the pandemic has shown us anything, it’s that life can be short and that expensive phones don’t really matter.

So either you buy the latest because you believe in living life fully and in the moment, or...

Keep your iPhone 6 (in my case), because it still works just fine. Besides, you’re working from home and no one’s going to even see that shiny new iPhone 12. ;)

Related question, I switched service from T-Mobile to Xfinity. Both show full coverage for my workplace on maps but since the switch my xs is nearly useless. Would a pro max help with this or is it entirely carrier related?
Depending on your plan you may be experiencing congestion depriorititization. Which is why I don't use the Verizon network for my main phone. (I just moved locations at work. At my last site Verizon data was almost unusable in many spots in the building. The new building, looks to be on par with ATT).

iPhone 6s here. What a fantastic device it's been for me. One thing I've learned over the past 5 years is that I, and most people, no longer need more power or bells and whistles for phones. The only reason I'm looking to upgrade myself is because I'm coming to the end of my security update support.

If I needed one now I would absolutely get the iPhone 11 and save some cash. Those people asking questions like these won't even use the 11 to it's fullest potential. Power users know what they want and need.

I can't think of any reason to buy a smartphone in 2021 other than a shattered screen on the old one.
I'm seeing a lot of impulse purchases made out of sheer boredom, then promptly regretted.
Chances are that you're not going to exploit properly the improved camera or the battery life in this specific year.

I will upgrade my Xs if the 13 has a fingerprint sensor that I can use when Face ID isn’t working due to wearing a mask.

Way too early to tell since we don't know what the 2021 models will offer. 5G in 2020 was for me well worth the upgrade cost.

Does Xfinity have wifi calling? I believe T-Mobile does.

I have been looking at size comparisons and it does seem like the 12 is not much of an upgrade over my current, so I guess I'm looking at either the pro max or waiting. Mine has been working decently but for the last couple months has started doing randomly weird things. Sometimes the camera just won't work, it'll just show a black screen until i force restart. Sometimes even though it shows full bars and is connected to wifi it will just lose all connection until I either force restart or put it into airplane mode.
I would just consider replacing the battery, and take that opportunity for Apple genius to troubleshoot other issues as well.

Just ordered the 12 in black. Coming from an XS which has cracked glass and a dodgy camera because of that 😂

My work kindly pay most of the bill/cost, and I was due for a free upgrade this week.

Given that I’ll want to take nice photos this summer, I didn’t want to wait another 6 months. Hope I’ve made the right decision getting the upgrade now!

It's only mid-cycle and not end of cycle, so it's not a bad time at all if you want / need to upgrade. Personally, I just traded in my XR yesterday for the 12 Pro Max; and that extra .6" of screen translates to more than it seems on paper.

You made a good upgrade right there.

For me though I prefer a smaller phone than that for my pockets. Summer, shorts, etc.

The Max is great though.

Edit - just received my new 12 black. In sunlight this really has a tinge of blue doesn’t it!
