My daughter dropped her iPhone XR this morning and the bottom of the phone around the charging port is caved in and a large portion of the screen has a black band across it. I assume it will be a total replacement. We do have AppleCare on it but for the first time EVER in over a decade of iPhone's we will need to have significant service so I am curious how long this usually takes... we have an appointment at our nearest Apple Store tomorrow, no chance they just give us a replacement do they? Or do they ship it out and we are without the phone for a while? Thanks for sharing your experiences!

You need to set up a Genius Bar appointment. When you arrive, they will look at the phone, and determine if it has AC+ coverage. If covered, they’ll have a replacement phone in your hands before you leave the store.

Well that is great news, I just checked we do have AppleCare+ so hopefully the store will have stock of the model when we go in for our Genius Bar appointment tomorrow... thanks!
