I've tried playing BG3 on an m1 MacBook Pro with 16gb ram and also an m5 max with 48gb of ram...the game makes both of the laptops run HOT and the fans blaring full speed. Considering this game does it to both of the computers, I'm guessing it's the games itself that's causing this. Any fixes or patches for this to fix the issue? I've made sure the game is up to date with all updates and patches available so far.

MAcs fan control to manually adjust the fan speed (putting it on full blast)
Lower the resolution, and detail so the GPU is working less hard.

Yep, that's what happens when you play intensive games, both the CPU and GPU are being heavily utilized and the by product of that is heat.

Elevating the rear of the notebook can help or an aluminium stand, this will reduce heat being reflected from the surface back to the MBP. Powered coolers with fans have no practical effect on Mac's. Use Mac's Fan Control to increase the base fan speed to a tolerable level. The stock fan curve ramps up far too slowly for gaming, resultantly the chassis becomes heat soaked making it difficult for the system to cool down. Again, reduce settings, resolution etc.

Another option for static setups is a USB powered fan strategically placed so it blows across the MBP keyboard deck (air flow L-R above & below the keyboard).

Unfortunately, Mac's are not designed with gaming in mind and don't have the internal airflow or cooling required. Much the same as gaming notebooks are not noted for their portability or runtime on battery.
