This makes me mad as an iPod user with 3134 legally purchased songs on my iPod. Yeah it took me weeks to rip my CDs to the damn thing, but I bought all these CDs and I am using 'em!

I have never downloaded a song from P2P or iTMS. Way too lazy for that. And I like the instant backup copy.

This reeks of sour grapes and jealousy.

Ballmer has a child? Yech...

That means he someone slept with him.

Now if that isn't a compelling argument against the abuse of alcohol, I don't know what is.

"I did WHAT?!!"

He's just too funny. I guess all the DRM-songs downloaded from iTMS is by the good people (non iPod-users) who burn them to CD and then rip them to WMA.

It's amazing what a net worth of $13B will get you... :D

Yeah, Microsoft has done a lot of underhanded, backstabbing things over the years, and its executives have said a lot of patently false, underhanded, slanderous things over the years, but this one is so obviously a lie, not to mention a case of the pot calling the silverware black, that is's almost funny.

It would be, if the guy weren't worth more than most countries and the head of one of the richest corporations on the planet.

Seriously, we're talking about the guy responsible for WINDOWS, which, last I checked, is by far the most popular platform for pirates of absolutely anything--music, movies, porn, software, Windows itself, whatever. About the only thing outside of corporate America installed on a Wintel box that isn't pirated is Linux.

I dare ol Monkey Boy to grab a random iPod listner off the street and compare what's on his/her iPod to what's on the Windows PC of another random person, complete with this amazing "DRM", and see which one contains more stolen content. My iPod sure don't, but darn near every Wintel box I've worked on sure does.

(Incidentally, why don't they call it "DRR" -- Digital Rights Restriction -- which is what it is. My rights don't need management, thank you. Oh, and if this post lacks specific characters such as "L", it's because I just dismantled my keyboard to clean it, and did something wrong.)

Link isn't working.

I wonder...does that mean that because I have a USB flash drive I am an evil person who steals corperate data?

My iPod has.....maybe..........3 songs from P2P networking.....I deleted them all when iTMS came out and I realised what I had been doing. That guy wouldn't know the difference between a SCSI cable and an ATA cable even if they bit him in the ass. :)

Wow this man has children, I do feel sorry for them...

Ballmers bedtime story to his children: Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers

Oh and what do they want to be when they grow up? Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers

haha sorry, couldn't resist.

It's great but for those who are wondering what he's talking about...

and Monkeyboy.

I think he's finnally lost it, all that money must of made him insane.

Whether or not someone steals music has NOTHING to do with whether or not they own an iPod. MS/Ballmer really tick me off.

I demand an apology. Imagine that a man in his position would stoop so low. He's an irresponsible nitwit, a cretin, a dork, a liar, a moron, an imbecile, a dolt, a jackass, an idiot, a dumbass, a wierdo, a knucklehead, blockhead, boob, booby, cretin, dimwit, donkey, dumb ox, dumbbell, dunce, dunderhead, fool, halfwit, twit, yo-yo, ignoramus, jerk, kook, meathead, mental defective, nincompoop, ninny, pinhead, pointy head, simpleton... he's just plain stupid.
And that's just the stuff I can say here!

Exactly what I was thinking. Steve Ballsless... er Ballmer has just made himself the biggest, sweatiest hypocrite in the universe. Is the iPod frequently used for piracy? Yeah, it is. I don't deny that. Is Windows used for piracy? Um.... let me think.... Actually, I'd dare say piracy may well be considered one of Windows' primary uses. Maybe surfing the net is #1, but I can actually imagine piracy coming in ahead of word processing or gaming. Even if that's not the case, Steve has no room to talk.

I live my Mac life clean - no pirated software, movies, music, etc. I spent a TON of time ripping all of my CDs to MP3s and am now digitizing the 5000+ records I own. In my younger days I used to download music but don't really have the time for it - that and most downloadable music is in crappy 128 bit form.

My PC-based friends however - pirate masters - yaaarrgggh - DVD collections full of movies, music, etc. The P2P software available for PCs lends itself to this behavior. Sure, there are people on all brands of OSes that will pirates but it sure seems weighted towards the Windoze side.

Micro$oft... the evil empire
