Such a hard decision, I just haven't heard good things about band. Let me know
Really need an answer, please help!
i bought Pianist because i had $5.99 leftover and i was gonna buy band but i decided just to get this because the keyboard is the main reason i wanted band and i had exactly the right amount to get it, and i like it. if you know how to (or want to learn) play the keyboard/piano then i suggest getting this. now i don't have to waste money on 6 batteries at a time for a keyboard and i can use it wherever i go. i like the record feature. however if you don't know how to play a keyboard or you don't want to learn how to really play one then don't waste your time because it can get really boring if your not playing real songs and just sitting there hitting random keys.
Hey, thanks for the reply. I just thought that the 12 bar blues section on band looks cool, but I don't really want to spend that much for just that. Really, I would only want the 12 bar blues and the piano part of band. So I'm just really torn! haha
i wanted band at first but then i started thinking that the only thing i'd be using is the keyboard. i love playing the keyboard and learning new songs. but i like how the band version of the keyboard has two rows and not just one. but i'm glad they came out with a separate keyboard app by itself. maybe they'll come out with the 12 bar blues section by itself.
yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy pianist, thanks for all the info and support. That would be cool if they made a 12 bar blues app also, maybe with more features!!
I have band and I love it. One of my top favorite apps. People are amazed by all that it can do. Whats really fun is hooking up your iPhone to a big sound system and cranking out some beats. Annoys the hell out of my roommate though!!
From the horse's (cow's) mouth
I don't want to influence your decision based on anonymous App Store reviews or personal experience of either app, but if it's _facts_ you want, then my website has a YouTube demo reel for both apps. http://moocowmusic.com
You should be able to see what each app can do and then make an informed purchase.
Great! I just can't decide on which one, I want both, but can only afford one
If you can only afford one and still want either then may I suggest Pianist as it's cheaper?
I boils down to what you want the app to do.
Band is geared more to letting anyone play something that will impress their mates. The 12 Bar Blues instrument is the killer for this. I know I wrote it, but I still love it. Check out the demo and if you find it impressive to watch then your mates will too when you play a live blues guitar solo direct from your phone.
Pianist is less immediate in that you really need to know how to play a tune on a piano to be able to play anything really impressive. Then again, I recorded The Entertainer as a demo without being able to play the (real) piano, and only having basic music sight-reading ability, so it's certainly not for experts only. The advantage that Pianist has over Band is the full 88 note keyboard. That means that with a little perseverance anything can be recorded on it, and so it moves out of the realms of "toy" to being a useful notepad for the musician on the move.
Hope that helps a bit.
Thanks so much, I went ahead and bought pianist, and I absolutely love it!
I think I'm going to buy band at some point also, just because it looks so great!
It's not overly impressive to have 4.5 inch pianist in your pants.
it is if you can actually play the keyboard. i know quite a few songs and it's great to play them on the iPod instead of pulling out my keyboard, finding 6 charged batteries, finding headphones so my parents don't get mad, and finding the headphone adapter so i can plug the headphones in. also it's great to play it on the go instead of only being able to play at home. the only time i prefer a real one over the ipod one is if i'm playing a song that uses a widespread of keys (which isn't many) or if i want different sounds instead of the sound of a piano (but i emailed MooCowMusic about this and they said they're trying to implement this in).
I think you may have missed the joke.
Regarding your joke...
Anyone remember that the first version of "Pianist" was actually called "iAno", until many, many Spaniards informed me that the title translated to "Interactive Anus".
How far we've come...
I'm planning to buy this two app.
But i was thinking. Are we able to get the updates free in the new future ? ( coz "jailbreak installer" already have Pianist Version 2 )
Also how can i add more instruments to Band ?
Coz i only notice JailBreak iPhone will able to do that. But i dont want to JailBreak my phone
