Do you think its best to go in store to see which size band I would need (S, M, or L)? I've got skinny wrist so definitely S or M, just not sure which of those two I would need.

Since it will be in stores a few weeks before you can actually pick one up, that's probably a good idea.
You could also find a sewing tape and measure yourself:

They have to be if there are individual bands for sale on the website.
I'm going to get the link bracelet so maybe on April 26th or 27th I'll go in store and pick out the right size additional band. Thanks for the info!

Good, I rather buy the stainless steel watch for $599 and spend $200 on an aftermarket luxury leather band

Unfortunately, just because they're interchangeable within the Apple bands doesn't mean the watch will be compatible with other bands. Knowing Apple the connection from band to watch is proprietary, which would be a deal breaker for me, as none of Apple's bands are large enough for my wrist.
