Hi

I am considering turning on sleep mode with my Graphite SS watch.

I normally use the watch with the ML. Can that be used with the watch when sleeping? I have not had a problem with watch scratches with the ML.

I don’t have a Milanese band so, I can’t comment on that aspect of your question. I have found the sports loop and the new Solo and Braided loops to be the most comfortable while sleeping. I didn’t like the sports band Mitch, especially to bed, as it is think and bulky.

i did a few times before i got my solo braided loop. i didnt notice anything so id say its doable. but ever since i got my solo braided loop i havent even touched my ML lol

Is your sleeping environment going to have a considerably different temperature than the rest of your house/apartment? If so, you may want to avoid sleeping with your ML on. Personally I like my sleeping environment cool/cold and I would absolutely hate the cold metal feeling on my wrist (or touching my face) waking me up in the middle of the night. I have never had that issue wearing a sport loop band (velcro.) They are also super comfortable in my opinion.
Hope it helps!

I’m using the sport loop for the first time ever. With my last watches I used AutoSleep to sleep track with a silicone band. My watch is on my wrist 24/7 except when charging. I HIGHLY recommend sleeping with the sport loop. It’s easily the most comfortable band I’ve ever used

Actually thought the same exact thing when I ordered my series 6. I haven’t mustered up the confidence to order the braided solo loop just yet.

I’ve slept with both the sport loop and sport band and personality I like the feeling of the sport band better. I loosen it by one hole at night. I don’t find the Milanese loop comfortable during day wearing so it’s not a band I would reach for at night.

I find the ML VERY COMFORTABLE. I get wrist rashes to most bands other than SS, so I am cautious.

I purchased the SL as well. I have not tried it at night. By day, I have not found the SL to “breathe”, compared to the ML. My wrist feels warmer with the ML.

I have had three Apple watches. All SS. I have always used the ML, b/c my dermatologist recommends SS bands for me. Maybe I will get used to the SL.

I am very careful with the ML when charging the watch. I don’t use the Apple puck. I use the Belkin charger that charges both my phone and the watch. This allows me to place the watch on its side when charging.

I am sleeping in my Graphite Watch and matching Milanese band. Personally I find it perfectly comfortable.

Band comfort is a personal thing, of course 😊

@danmart

thanks your your reply. Is your watch also registering as Aluminum in the AW app?

Hi PurBie,

I’ve been doing exactly the same thing for the last 3 plus years! :)
- Loosening by 1 hole on the Nike Band/Strap when I sleep.

To make sure the watch doesn’t feel all icky when I put it back on, after I’ve showered - I also give the watch a good wash in soapy water each night, dry, set on charge, and then wear a bit later when I actually go to bed. The Nike strap dries really quickly as it doesn’t have a porous weave material Etc. And is bone dry when I finally put it back on. I think I’d hate the feeling if it was still a bit damp when I go to bed.

Be interesting to see what I end up doing when I get my S6. I have got a Sports loop and Nike Sports band/strap to go with it.

If the velcro Sports loop is actually more comfortable, and I can wear it slightly tighter so I don’t get those bad readings sometimes with a loose strap, then I’d think about getting another Sports loop and rotate the 2 loops - One in the washing machine after a few days wear and the other one being used etc.

My pennies worth :)

Hi Curryb,

This forum is great source of info :)

I’ve been using AUTOSLEEP as well for the last 3 years plus.

2 questions if I may:

Q1) Does AUTOSLEEP work still with the AW6? Or does the new apple sleep monitoring mess it up?
- The data Graphs etc. from AUTOSLEEP is really in-depth, and I’d like to keep it going for trend analysis.

Q2) Is the the new apple sleep monitoring stats any good, compared to AUTOSLEEP, or is it a bit basic?
- Are the stats doubling up because 2 apps are doing the sleep monitoring?

Hope you can advise

Regards
Martin

PS:
Apologies for asking a question off tangent to the OP’s question! 😇

Hey!
so yes everything works on my series 6. I even reached out the the developer to ask about a widget. He said that he was working on the widgets as well as spo2 support. He even shared a screen shot with me!
Apples sleep tracking is extremely basic compared to AutoSleep. I do use both to compare but AutoSleep blows Apple away. I really don’t even bother looking at apples sleep app.

I feel in general Apple can do a much better job to display information like heart rate, sleep, ect. I’m not a fan of there graphs and wish they would change it.

Hiya,

Many thanks for the info :)

I thought that might be the case with the apple stats. It sounds the same as the apple activity stats a few years ago for cycling. The GPS heat Mapping was great, but the metrics lacking. I went with the Strava app as my go to for sports in the end, and Autosleep for sleeping and left it as that with apps on the watch.

Did you buy the fully fledged AUTOSLEEP app in the end? Anything extra worth having that the free version doesn’t give you? I haven’t really thought about it, but I’ve been using the free version all this time and it does everything I can think of needing.

Well done for contacting the Apple sleep developer btw! Great app, hope he keeps at it :)

Best wishes
Martin

Yes I bought the full app suite (auto sleep, auto wake, and heart watch). I actually never experienced the fee version since I was able to get a bundle with all 3 apps for $7.99

The focus of the Apple Sleep app is to get people into a routine of going to bed at a regular time every evening, and winding down before bed, instead of continuing to use computers, iPads and iPhones, which can hinder sleep later on etc. The app isn’t meant to provide detailed analysis of sleep. If you want detailed analysis, you can run AutoSleep in conjunction with the Sleep App. AutoSleep does not provide it’s own data. It uses the same data provided to other third party sleep apps, as well as the stock Sleep app.

Nope. I've tried the braided loop. There's no comparison, for me. The Sport Loop is the most comfortable both for breathability and (especially) because it is so adjustable.

And yes, I love the Sport Loop for sleeping. Have been using Sleep Watch for a year and a half or so to track my sleep.

I find the ML comfortable, but I wouldn't sleep with it on because the magnet isn't strong enough to me. Even when I'm awake, I'm always having to slide it back up to get it as tight as I like it. I feel like it would come off in bed.

I Agree. I have a solo loop that I wore for the last week and thought it was super comfortable until I decided to put on one of my sport loop straps. What I didn't like about the solo loop was the lack of the band being able to breath.

I still like having a solo loop available, but I don't think I'll buy anymore. Giving up the ability to resize the band as needed and the breathability really makes me think before I'll reach for the solo loop again.

Can you wear the sport loop 24/7? Any reason not to?
