I am looking to purchase a MacBook Pro. I currently have an iMac which I use mainly with Adobe suite . I do graphic desi- Photo editing ,illustration, sketching and some light video editing. I just upgraded my iMac Ram to 32 gigs as I was having issues with performance as it was lagging . I when comparing core i7 vs core i9 Mac Book Pro graphics card and memory is what I'm most concerned about . Due to the pandemic money is tight I've been that there's not much difference between the I7 and 19 in regards to performance . It was recommendedif you do high end video editing aka Final Cut Pro get the I9. My main concern is what will my processor be able to handle as I usually keep my computers for five years .since software updates every couple of months what does everyone recommend ?

You might wanna hold off a week or so - RumorHazIt that Apple will have an event on October 13th that will hopefully include when MacBook Pro's with Apple Silicon will start to be available.

I wouldn't buy an Apple Silicon Mac yet. It's a first-gen architecture. Software compatibilty will be an issue in the beginning, I would get a current 16" with the 2.6 i7, 32GB RAM, 5500M 8GB, 1TB SSD and wait till the second-gen Apple Silicon Mac's come out.

If you require high end graphics capabilities, as I do, check out the Razer X Chroma external GPU along with the Radeon RX Vega 64 desktop graphics card. It’s what I use on my MBP 16”. Connects via Thunderbolt port. Easy peasy.

Vega 64 has long been discontinued. The Radeon RX 5700 XT the current AMD performance champion, though the RX 6000 series is coming soon.
