Do you check your accounts, transfer funds, etc. on your iPhone? I'm not referring to any particular app, only Safari.

I use that BofA app to look at account balances if I'm away from a computer and about to make a large purchase. It basically uses safari with a front end gui to make my life easier.

    Why do you ask?

My bank, First Direct (UK), has a fairly iPhone friendly site. I also use money.Strands app which is linked to my first direct accounts. It's a great tool for budgeting and generating reports on transaction categories, e.g. I get pie chart. Showingthe amount I've spent over the last 1/3/12 months on various categories, shopping, entertainment, iTunes, AppStore (too much :D) etc.

I just need to transfer some funds, and I am a little weary of using the PC here at work. I had some money taken from my checking account a few years ago. Someone in Illinois paid a utility bill and tried to transfer some money via Western Union. Don't ask me how that happened, but since then I have been rather cautious.

    Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A400 Safari/528.16)

The only thing that I do is check my balance. I don't make any transactions.

I use the PNC Bank app... I have an account with them and their account management site is 100% flash, so they thankfully came out with an app.

I do. I figure it's as safe as doing it on my laptop. And my banks site looks fine on the iPhone.

The iPhone on wifi is only as secure as your wifi, 3G is basically another story and should be fine.

Have used for credit card transactions - Pretty useful to be able to use web sites to buy something from your phone using the browser. Haven't done banking, but with Nokia's step into money, there is very likely to be a BIG banking push, purchasing push for smart phones v. soon.

I have the PNC bank app on my iPhone, and I simply just check my account balance. If I want to transfer funds, I make sure I'm on my laptop to do that.

As long as the website is encrypted, you should be fine over 3G or secure Wi-Fi.

I use the Wells Fargo iPhone app (basically the re-packaged version of their mobile web site) all the time, checking balances, transferring money, making payments, etc. In fact, I now access my bank account far more often via iPhone than via PC. Why bother to move my butt over to the desk when I can do everything while sitting down in my comfy couch? :)

    Usaa

Have to say, if you're eligible for USAA membership - totally worth it. The USAA app is great and the Deposit@Mobile is really handy. Haven't used it to transfer funds yet but am sure it's simple and secure.

I guess that brings up another question. Do the apps add a layer (or can they add) of security to the data transmitted?

USAA is the first app i would consider GREAT on the iphone

Unfortunately I am not eligible to use the software but, damned, it is terrific.

Can't wait for Wells or BOA to come out with this...never having to go to a bank to make a deposit.....GREAT Stuff!!!

My banks are both accessible, only one has an iPhone optimized site but, for no apparent reason, it has about 1/10th of the total website features that way so I never use it.

I do use that mobile banking on AT&T app for one account that it supports, it works ok. It's about as user friendly as a 1990's ATM but at least it works and seems to attempt being secure.

For just read-only type access though, I use Mint.com's app.
