Not surprised. That's mall and airport pizza. Retch.

So it looks like California Pizza Kitchen won the war for cold, greasy, disgusting pizza you only eat because your flight is delayed and the McDonalds further on down the terminal sounds even more unappetizing.

Last Gasp?

I've been hearing a lot of commercials for Blockbuster on one of the local radio stations. In the ad, they are putting a positive spin on store closings by touting their "Blockbuster by Mail" program. They even say you can get a free blu-ray player by signing up for a one-year subscription to the program. Of course to sign up you have to visit an actual Blockbuster store, which could be a bit of problem seeing that there aren't many left.

^^^^ The Blockbuster by me is closing - interesting how they're "getting out of Bankruptcy".

Passing by a couple of others over the Easter weekend - they were closing too...

The upside is that you'll be able to get DVDs for pennies on the dollar when they have their going out of business sale(s). A similar thing happened when Movie Gallery went tits up - toward the very end they had what was left of their stock for 50¢ each. You had to hunt to find the gems, but worth it IMO.

The wife and I told Blockbuster they what they could go do with themselves after they refused to honor the Coke Rewards coupon - the manager told us he just didn't want to take them anymore. I asked for a pair of scissors and cut up my card on the spot. Then we got Netflix and couldn't be happier.

All of the Blockbuster video stores are closing or have closed around me. All of them. Hollywood Video has also closed most of their locations. There is one left and I think it is only a matter of time for it to go. All of the suncoast video stores are gone too.

Two of the Borders stores are officially closed and I have one more that is set to go out any day now. This is just sad. I am hoping BN doesn't follow suit.

What's interesting is that in our small community the Movie Gallery couldn't compete against the local independent. They closed up and left, and the local independent keeps chugging along. We rent from them on a frequent and regular basis... that is when we aren't borrowing the discs from the library for free.

It's the selection of foreign and oddball series that makes the local shop so valuable. That plus the free hot-fresh popcorn that they always have popping in the shop. :)
