Looks cool, I’ll have to check it out. The features look really useful.

I just downloaded the trial after seeing this - and I instantly decided to pay for it. This app is great, and cleans up one of the biggest visual annoyances in MacOS.

It needs permission under the Accessibility section to work.
Thanks for that. Does it require or request any other access ? Logi deamon also needs “keyboard input” (which is all strokes from our keyboard). If the CIA aren’t already using apps like this as a hidden way to see what people are up to then other countries surely are. These allowances are the weakest link in the Apple ecosystem and the most overlooked vulnerability people ignore despite taking other steps to protect themselves with encryption and such.
That’s like saying you refuse to give a browser internet access.

Just how do you expect it to do it’s job otherwise?

They need these because Apple have made that so.
How is that the same when the browser can only access what I put into it, it can’t access my files or anything outside the browser unless I specifically allow it. Microphone, webcam & location are given to the browser if you allow it and that would be a security flaw too unless using safari.

It can do it’s job the way it used to back when the first wireless keyboards and mice started hitting the market, they had inbuilt presents for features that didn’t require synchronisation with software, which was optional but not necessary. Now the second you disallow keyboard input or accessibility settings in MacOS settings to the Logi Deamon software the features immediately stop working on your peripherals.

It’s not a worthwhile trade off.

The problem is that MacOS is so locked down now that these programs can't work without giving these permissions. It's a real catch 22, and you have to have some trust for the developer unfortunately.

Bartender takes way too much memory than other similar apps, because it has many functions. I tried it in beta but decided against it. Hidden Bar works quite nicely for me, I don't need that many functions anyways.

Bartender is only using 75MB on my computer as of right now. What qualifies as "too much memory?"

Yep... 39MB here and I have not rebooted in a week or two. Does not seem to be a memory hog on my system.

If you update from an earlier version 3 you get an additional 50% off the $15 one time charge for Bartender 4. So after the free 4 week trial when I upgrade my subscription to version 4 it only costs me $7.50.
Can't get better than that.

Looks nice. Unfortunately, I'm stuck on Catalina with my personal 2013 Mbp and High Sierra for my work laptops (cause corporate software comptat).
You can still use Bartender version 3 both are available as Bartender 4 is for Big Sur only. I have been using this app (utility) since version 1 and remain impressed with the developer's dedication and support.
