Most of his info turns out to be true anyway
I know, the problem is that I open MacRumors and I see what's like 6 articles focusing on the very same news piece. And I remember times when Kuo used to focus on one particular device at time, yet now he's doing a nearly 5-year forecast and articles keep coming at an unhealthy pace.

Ming-Chi Kuo: Industry analyst and an unofficial Apple spokesperson. Must be a shareholder or something, given his track record!

Different models with different release dates. That is chaos.

Apple is supposed to be cream of the crop that other brands chase. Now they are changing their strategy to mimic Chinese companies. Did Apple forget who they are??

Why would anyone buy a Pro/Max if a new one comes only 6 months later for arguably the same price… is Apple shooting themselves in the foot ?
Apparently, that's not their plan—the more affordable regular models will ship in the spring. Apple knows that some people can't resist and will choose the PRO models instead of waiting.

If we are going to scatter shot the phones all across the calendar, how about we stop with the totally forced annual "new iOS" cycle?

Make that a rolling release for 18-24 months, at least, with new versions as they are appropriate.

Seems like that would be saying goodbye to a significant chunk of holiday sales. A nine-month-old iPhone under the tree isn’t very exciting.

But maybe that’s just a reflection of the iPhone being truly Old News by now

Agreed -- and folks aren't just going to "pony up for the Pro"

The Pro's are too expensive for the mainstream, which is why their sales stagnation (relative to other models) is not at all surprising.

They are also too heavy and just "too much" for a lot of folks.

It's not 2012. The market has evolved, as have Android manufacturers. I understand that in the US the iPhone is almost a must, but here in Europe - and in the rest of the world - many of us are also evaluating alternatives. IMO Apple cannot preclude itself from reaching as many customers as possible.
I am from Europe too! Most of people I know own iPhones, and I mean my friends aren’t some super rich people or IT guys, most of them owned Androids in the past and got fed up with them to the point of buying used iPhones, and then upgrading to brand new iPhones, they liked iOS much more because of “no lags and spyware”, in their words

Because there is clearly a differentiated market that can support a range of models and prices a single model could not.

A single model would price some budget buyers out, and leave some premium buyers’ money on the table.
I agree with that. Single model is maybe too dictatorial in 2025 market, BUT if I was their sales manager I would have left only TWO models: a “cheap” one with only one camera (~700€) and an expensive one, a pro model of one single size (~1000€). Keeping a large zoo of 5 different smartphones reminds me Samsung, and they experience BIG, BIG problems in software updates: after just a single major update their “midrangers” become unusable

Makes a whole lot of sense for Apple, but not for the customer.

Why ? Because the only way to have the latest and greatest, for a few months, will be to get a Pro model.
This strategy will increase the average sale price of the iPhone line.

What we need is MORE iPhone models.

I will not be satisfied until there are the following models*:

  1. iPhone 18 Base S
  2. iPhone 18 Base M
  3. iPhone 18 Base L
  4. iPhone 18 Base XL
  5. iPhone 18 Pro S
  6. iPhone 18 Pro M
  7. iPhone 18 Pro L
  8. iPhone 18 Pro XL
  9. iPhone 18 Air S
  10. iPhone 18 Air M
  11. iPhone 18 Air L
  12. iPhone 18 Air XL
  13. iPhone 18 Ultra S
  14. iPhone 18 Ultra M
  15. iPhone 18 Ultra L
  16. iPhone 18 Ultra XL
*Randomly introduce new colors six months afterwards, double it, and give it to the next person.
