Base model MB or MBP as a gift?

i am thinking white MB bc that will make her happier and she wont even know the difference...

hope I dont have a spur of the moment kind of thing and get the MBP when I am actually there. =)

Just get her the Whitebook if thats what she wants. The performance is really not going to be any different to her. About all you gain is some RAM which is user upgradable anyways.

Why the MBP?

Sure, it might be better, but if a cheaper laptop satisfies her MORE...

Since you're being so generous, can't you just get a 13 inch mbp and a speck outer shell. Maybe she actually likes purple or red better, that way you can get her the computer you think is better and a color she thinks is better. :whoknows:

i would love to except she doesnt understand anything about computers at all! so the only way i can persuade her is the way it looks. and based on that she wants white. =) I just don't know how to explain to her that the illuminated keyboard is genius. After my MBP I will NEVER get something different. I'm stuck between thinking i should get white bc she likes the color and i should get mbp bc i know its better.

Then get her the white one. if she doesn't understand much about computers, I doubt she's going to really care about the extra features of the macbook pro. She's probably just wanting a computer that will do the basics (both will do those fine) and that she likes the looks of.

While I think she's crazy (There's nothing I like better than the MBPs about the white ones including the looks of the computer), that's what she wants. And it doesn't sound like she'd notice any reason to like the MBP over the MB.

Ok, i thought about it, and figured you should get her the MBP. Its what i own, and its more durable, little better quality...
But after reading, i think she'd be better with the white MP. Sounds like she wont notice a difference and the MP will MORE than satisfy her for web browsing, video streaming. She will be happy with it for a long time.

And its just your sister. If it was your wife, id get the MBP. Cuz you know youd be on that thing more than she would hahaha

Macbook it is... Don't let the non illuminated keyboard get to your head, or the other options she'll be missing.. to not know or care is bliss and she'll be happier with the macbook and never know the difference.

Just make sure to get her an invisible shield or something to protect it from all the scratches. Have you ever seen a display model at apple. Yuck!

Quite frankly the macbook will be more than fine for those things. Facebook and iTunes arent the most demanding things for a Macbook anyways.

thats what happens when you are unemployed =D I just finished 4 years in the military. Taking a long vacation now.

I picked the MacBook Pro before looking at the post; if your sister wants a MacBook, just get her that. I mean unless she is being modest and that you should be able to read from her by now… For the MacBook, just upgrade her RAM to 4GB and maybe upgrade the HDD. Otherwise the MacBook Pro is a nice choice, as it's might be what she secretly wants?

EDIT: And didn't see the last post, so I guess what I wrote is fruitless now.
