Base Station Channel Conflict

I work at a school where we currently have 23 Apple Base Stations. The wireless has been fine up till today where all of a sudden all the base stations are going to channel 1 with the odd few going to channel 6 even though they are all set to automatic.
Anyone any idea's what could cause them to do this??
