Actually if you read the reviews, even the low star ratings praise the product for its input capabilities... that's why I don't understand your comments.

And if you read their forum, questionable is the one thing I have found them not to be. They have been extremely responsive to all feedback from customers in their forum. The update that came out this week addresses most of the issues customers (including me) have complained about, and they say they have another update coming this week to address more customer enhancements. That is quite impressive in my view.

So you are saying you are putting your faith in something that is not even out yet? What is that based on? The comment in this forum that some guy is developing one?

I don't really care one way or the other... I am going to continue monitoring all three and will use whichever is best. And if a fourth appears, I will try that one as well.

For the price of these (at least iScore and Baseball Scorecard), you may as well try them all out and use the one you find best. Pointstreak is a bit more expensive, but you can still buy all three for less than some of the solutions for other devices (Palm, Blackberry) cost for a single scorekeeping program.

For now, I'll be using iScore. As the others are updated (or when a new one is released), I will test those as well, and post any changes in opinion here as needed.

Hello thread readers.

I am one of the owners of Faster Than Monkeys - the company that created iScore Baseball. I have been watching this thread and just wanted to make myself available to any questions you may have.

We are very happy with the success of the product so far, and the feedback we receive (both positive and negative) only helps to improve our product. We are committed to making it the best baseball scoring application available on the iPhone.

You can email any questions you have directly to us at support@fasterthanmonkeys.com (we generally answer pretty quickly), and you can also check our product forum at http://iscore.freeforums.org or our website at http://fasterthanmonkeys.com.

I will try and stay out of the discussion of the products as I would obviously have a biased view :) , but did want to make it easy for anyone that had questions specifically about our product to be able to reach us easily.

Thank you.

Please - you are such a shill.

You are obviously affiliated with this app.
I resent you coming on here and acting as if you are not.
This entire thing is bothersome.
Every ***** star review goes on and on about what a great company this is and how helpful they employees are.

So, either they are fake reviews, or the product sucks. No one contacts customer service unless they are having problems with the app.

As I said, the interface is too distracting and time consuming. I didn't like it when I used it. I don't want a scoring app that keeps me from watching the game.

Fasterthanmonkeys his obviously reviewing it's own product - that's unethical IMHO. Now, you (chmps = fasterthanmonkeys - cute I get the connection) are out shilling on a forum. It's disgraceful.

Now you're getting pissy because I said I'll wait for another product. You already got my cash for this poor product. Why would you care if I now wait for and eventually use someone else's?

How do you know there will be an update unless you are connected?

I would like to get unbiased non-shill opinions of this product but you are making that difficult.

Wow! Settle down my friend. Are you serious? Shilling? That is crazy. I am telling people to try all three and decide on their own. It is cheap enough.

In fact, I see that Pointstreak is having a sale at $9.99. When I bought it, it was $19.99, so things are even cheaper now.

The competition is going to be good for all of us as users. I look forward to a fourth product coming out, but my point is, you are suggesting waiting for a complete unknown. In the mean time, I have about 15 games to score for my son's team between now and the end of May, so I am looking for a solution now.

I can't believe how far off topic this thread is getting. This started because I said I happened to like iScore, and asked which one you used. I thought maybe I was missing something (another program maybe?) but you said you are waiting for one that is coming out in the future.

Anyway, I am very curious what others have to say as well... again, I will post updates to my opinion as updates to any of the products come out (or a new product).

And fyi... "chmps" stands for "champs" as in my son's team is the champion of their league... but very funny that it is close to chimps.

Score Basics

I have a small $0.99 app that is a score board in your pocket. I am going to develop a full score keeping app this summer. The current "full" score keeping apps are too expensive or are missing critical features. I will be adding a comment section to my web site ( scorekeeperbaseball.uuuq.com ) so that people can tell me what features are important to them. I am currently working on a pitching coach app.

For fear of catching more of the wrath of pMad, I just can't hold back.

Both Pointstreak and iScore Baseball had updates over the last week. I tried them both, and iScore Baseball is clearly making the leaps and bounds changes that users have been requesting (including me) - I still see them as the best of the applications available.

In the release this week (I think I got it on Sunday), they added actual Scorebook output to the application (can view it in game, or email it after the game as a PDF file) - it looks fantastic, and it worked with games that were previously entered as well. Amazing that their simple entry can wind up being a Scorecard/Scorebook.

They also added cumulative statistics - huge! This is the one my team was really waiting for. We now see the cumulative stats for all the players for games we entered for my son's team.

There are also some other great additions like being able to see where each batter hit the ball on previous at bats, entering pitch locations and seeing what they call a "speckle chart" (have not used this in a game yet, but looks cool), and other things I am still discovering.

I am sorry if this sounds like "shilling" as pMad put it, but I am truly very excited about this application - it is exactly what I have been looking for (as obviously many others have as well based on the comments on the iscore forum).

I am the Mgr. of my son's LL team, it would be difficult to use this (iScore) during the game (or would it?). I would like to enter the stats after the fact. Does it give accumlative stats?

We have several coaches using iScore (you can see many coaches comments on our web forum at http://iscore.freeforums.org), and YES, iScore does keep cumulative statistics for each player and each team.

Re:Scorekeeper

I have used SCOREKEEPER to score/track baseball games on my Palm. Is there a similar baseball scorekeeping app for the iPhone?

I've used Scorekeeper/Turbostats for 5 years now and it's the best I've seen. Unfortunately, it's a pain to carry a phone and a PDA when you coach and you're carrying ball buckets, bats, etc. If I could get the Scorekeeper software in an iPhone app, all would be right with the world.

Serious Stats Seekers

DISCLOSURE: I'm the marketing guy for Pointstreak Sports Technologies...

So I see a spirited discussion on the merits of different baseball scoring apps. I think it's great and I bet there's something out there for everyone.

As someone already pointed out, we did drop our price from $19.99 to $9.99 for our baseball scoring app on iTunes. We're not going for FREE or $0.99 apps because we're trying to differentiate between those casually interested in scoring their baseball game and those who are serious about their baseball stats, collecting historical stats, sharing data online, etc.

We're stats people, and we're serious about accurate stats, so I would say check out our app if you of the same ilk.

We also just released a universal app with support for the iPad. It's looks like a beautiful way to score a baseball game and I'd love to hear any feedback from anyone out there that's tried it in the real-world on an iPad.

Thanks,

Gregg

Score Keeping Tests

Hello all,
Today I was thrilled to find out there were score keeping apps available! I have an iPad, and I searched and found the Pointstreak app on the first search. Today was the first test run for on a doubleheader little league game and the app only hung once where I had to shutdown & restart the device, but other than that hiccup, it worked very well. I was extremely impressed with the ease of use. Due to me having prior score keeping knowledge, it was a cinch to transfer to the electronic platform. Even though the weather was sunny and hot and I was able to be indoors. I would hate to have a rainy away game (you know what I mean...lol). I will also download and try the iScore baseball app for comparison and for an unbiased opinion. But for the price and usability I would recommend it to all new comers. Thanks for reading.

I see your apps in the App Store, what functionality is available in the paid version that is not available in the "lite" version?
