bash — command line shell / Terminal

    I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard), and this is the version of bash, the shell that is installed:

    /bin/bash --version

    GNU bash, version 3.2.17(1)-release (powerpc-apple-darwin9.0)
    Copyright (C) 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

    I just downloaded and built the latest version of bash.

    GNU bash, version 4.4.19(1)-release (powerpc-apple-darwin9.8.0)
