Wanting a basic dongle/hub that has following for an M1 iMac.

Doesn’t have to be flash just for basic use, may or may not leave plugged in, probably not as won’t use all the time.

I won’t use HDMI for example and so will be a waste for one on it.

Thanks

I’m finding it hard to find a dongle with a USB-C port on that will also do data transfer.

A lot I find are what I would like but scrolling through to details it says the USB-C port is for 60/100W power passthrough, but don’t support data. I thought they all would.

I want the dongle’s USB-C port to support data for an easier access USB-C port rather than use a rear USB-C port on the iMac.

I’ve seen them and they look perfect actually, neat and tidy, but I’m not sure if they block the speakers or vents on the bottom.

I’m also not 100% on it being there all the time to spoil the look as the iMac sometimes, positioning wise, will show the back where it doesn’t look as good.

Thanks

See my edited post for other options! I added them shortly after posting.

Second link is the ones I’m looking at, lots and lots on Amazon very similar.

That’s apparently a good brand, but again it stairs the USB-C on the dongle is “not video/data” so presume it’s only a charging port pass through. Not something I want for an iMac.

I’m not sure if the technicalities of it, or unsure why, that the dongle USB-C doesn’t support data passthrough though. I want this option as the iMac ports are on back and so easier access if a data one is on the dongle.

Third link one is. Ice but doesn’t have a USB-C port.

Thanks

Ah, I see. There's this, but it might be overkill for your needs:

Thanks for that, it is as you say a little overkill and more expensive for what I really need.

It has helped though I think as even on that dock, there is an extra USB-C port dedicated to data/SSD and the other USB-C is a PD charging port only. This would indicate that if there is a charging port of a USB-C on it, then it must not be able to do data for some reason as well. It must have to have another USB-C just for data?

Thanks

So hard to find one of this type or similar whereby the USC-C port on it allows data. Some state on the listing PD (not data) which I thought all USB-C would do data, but not PD for charging. Not the other way around.

Others it never states if it does or doesn’t and a lot are no brand or never heard of brands so can’t find out on the manufacturer website.

All I want is one of these or similar with USB-A, SD, and USB-C data port.
