could somebody please point out a forum somewhere that new users can ask very basic questions about Mac's and OSX, like this one...

I want to listen to Real Audio clips on websites, but when I click the links it just downloads the .ram file to the desktop, then I have to click the .ram to get the .rm to start streaming, never had this problem on PC, how can I make this work right?

thanks in advance

I’d say that this forum will satisfy most of your needs.

Do you use the most current version of RealPlayer? I’m not sure if RealPlayer for OS X has a browser plugin though.

Another idea: in Safari preferences, you can set Safari to automatically open downloaded files with the appropriate app. Did you do this?

I just wanted to make sure that dumb questions would be tolerated here

anyway I figured it out myself, everything works fine in Safari, the problem is in IE, you have to go into download prefences and find the helper for .ram and change the settings so they don't download but instead open with the Real Player plugin... I would just use Safari but it seems to have a problem displaying some dynamic content which is essential to navigate the site I use to buy music

Everyone is happy to help, but, do yourself (and us) a favor and search before asking, you'll find most questions have already been answered many times in the past ;) :)
