There is a similar post from 3/21/22 ("Apple music to MP3") which has no helpful answers. I have no other Apple devices, nor am I prepared to purchase any. My vehicle does not have CarPlay or Android Auto, nor can it be upgraded. Its craptastic infotainment system will not read memory any larger than 2GB off my phone or any other drive or device. The only solution is for me to play my mp3 library from my Android phone via Bluetooth. I have lots of music I've already paid for on CD. That music is mostly aiff. Apple Music only IMPORTS music when converting to mp3, so there's no way to put it on my phone. VLC is no help, as when I follow its Convert/Stream menu, it writes ONE mp3 file at a time. Plus (!@#&!!!), when I try to write the next file, it tells me me the NEW file with a NEW name has already been written, and if I continue, VLC will write the new mp3 over the existing song. I've used Audacity, but it's cumbersome AF, and somehow codes the songs so they won't write to the phone SD card in the album order, even when I put the track number in the title. If there is no solution, somebody should produce one, as I'm not smart enough to do it myself. To wit: A converter that writes an entire album, uploaded from any device, from any common audio format to any other common audio format. Select the output format, drag and drop the batch into the app, push the GO button, select the storage destination and walk away.

My apologies. Should have put in the OP, but I'm so frustrated about the total lack of thought put into existing "solutions" that I'm about to blow a gasket...

You could use Music to import your AIFF songs and batch convert them to MP3. Then use another app to put the MP3s on your phone. "Apple Music" is a service, not an app, and really has no relevance to this problem.

I'm not understanding your issue. Music still outputs MP3 files to the disk. You just need to go to your Music folder and copy them out to wherever to put on your phone.

Yes, I've mistakenly conflated the Music Apps with Apple Music. I'm only aware of two ways to put music files on my MacBook Pro: 1) Copying files from a CD or other storage device via the Finder, which offers no conversion function to another file format. 2) Import files from a CD or other storage device via the Music app, which offers choosing MP3 as the import format. However, there is no Export function for files created by the Music app, or any indication where the Music app stores them on the MacBook. How do I copy them to another device if I can't find them?

Music doesn't ask me where I want them stored when I import/convert them, and I have no idea where they are. They are not in any folder I can find on my MacBook, and definitely not in the folder Music.

The issue with apple music convertion is as well that it ads the converted song to library…so if you have a 5000 song library you are pretty much owned with duplicates in library

Right click songs after importing and converting with Music, select 'Show in Finder' to see where they are.

Or the faster way is to select all the imported/converted tracks in Music and drag them out to a folder all in one go.

Thanks to NoBoMac for the pointer towards MediaHuman.

I've also been using "ALL2MP3", but that looks like it's no longer supported on the m-series Macs (may also be only 32 bit compatible, as well).

OK. I finally found the files for the one album I converted in the Music app only after digging it out because it's effing buried. Here's the path:

Not only is it buried, the path is wrong. There is no file labeled The Very Best of War in ZPW MP3:

However, two columns to the left, there's a file labeled "Compilations," which I have never called any music file. The Music app must have created it, and that's where IT decided to store the original files/mp3s.

I will NEVER use the Music app again.
