Hello, I have an Apple Watch Series 5 SS edition with a battery capacity of 75% that barely lasts a day

At my Apple Store, they offered me €95 for trade-in so I could buy the newest series 9 with a 20% discount

I’m pretty happy with my AW and I use it every day, mainly to check my health conditions (I’m severely obese)

I could wait for the newest model next year but I fear they will lower the value of the trade-in by a lot (Series 4 is currently valued €55)

What would you do in my shoes?

Just do trade-in. Selling it with such horrible battery, smart people will put that into the cost of buying it, and thus can turn it down Easily. Keep in mind Apple Watch battery swap is the same as giving A new device, just sent from depot.

I was in your situation. Instead of paying $100 for a battery replacement I sold the S5 for $100 and bought a new S8 for $225 during a recent sale. Basically it cost me just an extra $25 for a brand new watch and battery. I almost went with a brand new first gen SE for $125 as another option

My only concern is that if the next year they announce AW 10 with glucose monitor or blood pressure monitor I would have to upgrade, because I basically use my watch only to do measurements :/

I gather you don’t have AppleCare+ ?

I just did a battery swap replacement of my S5 yesterday. With AC+ it doesn’t cost anything. Without AC+ I can understand your reluctance to spend money now to replace an S5 watch and then get a new one next year if they have the rumored new sensors. I figured I could have limped through until next year with my weakened battery if I’d had to shell out money.
